The challenging swimming conditions at OstseeMan 2025 once again highlighted how important safety is in open water. With RESTUBE, we have found a partner that perfectly combines this feeling of safety and freedom. The compact, barely noticeable buoy provides our athletes with additional buoyancy and greater visibility in an emergency - giving them extra confidence at the early-morning start.
The safety of our long-distance athletes is our promise—and we uphold this with the highest standards. Thanks to our partnership with Restube, every swimmer is equipped with a personal buoy that is barely noticeable on the body and does not affect performance.This measure is not a replacement but an additional layer of safety directly on the athlete. It supports our extensive water rescue team by gaining valuable seconds in critical moments and immediately increasing survivability. It also provides less experienced athletes with greater confidence in open water. With this approach, we position the Nordschwarzwald Triathlon as an event that invests uncompromisingly in the safety and well-being of its participants.
Since we’ve been swimming in open water with a safety buoy exclusively for years in our private training, we’re very happy that they are now allowed in competition as well. This is especially meant to take away beginners’ fear of the Neckar course and to make the swim as safe and relaxed as possible for everyone.

Can I use RESTUBE at my event?
Yes - RESTUBE can be used at any open-water or multisport event.
Our safety buoys are approved by the DTU, have been successfully used at World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) events, and are already trusted by numerous triathlons, open-water events, and water rescue organizations worldwide.
RESTUBE can be provided for both participants and water rescue teams, enabling fast and effective intervention in emergency situations.

How much does it cost to equip all participants with a RESTUBE safety buoy?
This depends on the size and specific needs of your event. In addition to safety buoys, we also offer:

Do all participants have to wear a RESTUBE safety buoy?
That decision is up to the event organizer. Some races - such as the Nordschwarzwald Triathlon - require athletes to wear the safety buoy as a mandatory part of participation. Other events offer RESTUBE as an optional additional safety layer for participants.
Our recommendation based on experience: Mandatory use significantly eases the workload of both the water safety teams and the event organizers, while also improving overall safety and visibility during the race.
