Flug über die Berge mit Restube

Flying with Restube

Follow these rules and you can take Restube with you on the plane

Are you planning a trip by plane and want to take your Restube with you? No problem! Restube can be taken on the plane. However, there are a few rules to follow. We have compiled all the information you need to make sure your Restube arrives safely at its destination.

RESTUBE AND CO2 CARTRIDGES IN THE LUGGAGE

The original RESTUBE CO2 cartridges contain 16g or 10.9g CO2 and are pressurized. Therefore, they are considered “dangerous goods” in air transport. According to the IATA (International Air Transport Association) and the LBA (German Federal Aviation Authority), up to two CO2 cartridges may be carried in combination with Restube. Ultimately, however, the airline and the pilot decide whether the cartridges are allowed or not. Restube itself - without its CO2 cartridges - can be carried on an aircraft without restrictions or special transport requirements.

More and more stores around the world are offering Restube. Feel free to write us your travel destination and we can inform you if there is a dealer near you. You can reach us at hello@restube.com.

Generally, according to IATA/LBA, up to two CO2 cartridges per Restube are permitted. (Note: As Restube is not a separate category, the regulations for lifejackets apply, which are ‘for 2 applications’). According to the TSA (which applies to the USA) cartridges may not be transported without the accompanying restube.

This rule applies to all types of air transport:
- Hand luggage
- Checked baggage
- Worn on your person

Although this is an official regulation, not all ground staff are aware of it. To ensure that flying with cartridges works for you, we have summarized the most important rules for you here. Read them carefully, stick to them and you should be fine! We recommend that you put Restube in your checked luggage, as the staff checking the luggage is often better trained than the staff at the security checkpoint.

Important steps to be allowed to take Restube and cartridges onto the aircraft

1. Contact the airline before departure
Declare your Restube, including the number of CO2 cartridges, to the airline by phone. Either directly after booking or at least 48h before departure. Ask the airline for a written confirmation (e.g. by e-mail) and carry a copy with you.

2. Transport Restube and the CO2 cartridges separately
Carefully open the flap and take the buoy out of the bag without releasing it. Then unscrew the CO2 cartridge from the restube.

3. Store CO2 cartridges, information, and your Restube with unscrewed cartridge together in a transparent bag
According to IATA, up to two CO2 cartridges per Restube may be carried on an aircraft. Keep the CO2 cartridges with the information flyer “Flying with Restube” – you will find it in every RESTUBE package and also here (Restube beach 10,9g cartridges or all other Restubes with 16g cartridges) – as well as the information from the LBA or TSA in a plastic bag with a seal that is clearly visible. Also include the confirmation from the airline.
