Do I really need a buoy for snorkeling?

A Safety or Swim Buoy isn’t mandatory everywhere, yet Water-Rescue organizations strongly recommend one. In some coastal regions—Florida, for example—you must tow a high-visibility “divers-down” flag while snorkeling or diving. A buoy shields you from boat traffic, lifts you through cramps or fatigue, and pinpoints your location in an emergency. RESTUBE’s Safety Buoy bundles all these benefits into one slim package: wear it on a belt, inflate it only when you need it, and enjoy total freedom the rest of the time.

Who is ACTIVE for?

ACTIVE is versatile and suitable for a wide range of activities on and in the water - both training and competition.

Use ACTIVE for swimming, stand-up paddling, fishing, boating, triathlon, kayaking and canoeing.

How does the swim buoy work?

The SWIM BUOY is very easy to use and quick to attach!

Simply fasten the belt around your waist, inflate the air chamber using the mouth valve and pull the buoy behind you as you swim.

The buoy has almost no drag in the water.

When using the SWIM BUOY PRO, you can also store useful items such as an energy bar or your keys in an area separate from the air chamber so they are always at hand.

Can I use the RESTUBE Safety Buoy more than once?

Yes, after replacing the CO2 CARTRIDGE, the Safety Buoy is immediately ready for use again. The sales package contains the safety buoy incl. an original RESTUBE CO2 CARTRIDGE that must be screwed in before use. After use, the safety buoy is very easy to prepare for use again: Deflate, insert a new cartridge, fold the buoyancy chamber according to the printed instructions, and stow the whole thing in the pouch! ATTENTION: Only original RESTUBE CO2 CARTRIDGES are 1.) 100% quality tested, 2.) seawater resistant, 3.) level tested and 4.) the necessary release force is matched to the release. The cartridges comply with the standard for life jackets DIN EN ISO 12402-7. If other cartridges are used, it cannot be guaranteed that the safety buoy will fill without problems in an emergency and the trigger may be damaged.

How do you dive below the surface while snorkeling?

Take a deep breath, lean your torso forward, and kick powerfully so your head slips beneath the water first. Tilt the snorkel slightly so it floods completely, and equalize after the first three to six feet by pinching your nose and exhaling gently. Secure your buoy, settle into a smooth kick, and you’ll conserve energy for a longer stay. On the way up, clear the snorkel with a sharp exhale or tip your head back so water drains out. With practice the sequence becomes second nature – and RESTUBE stays ready but unobtrusive throughout.

What’s the right way to breathe through a snorkel?

Keep a slow, steady rhythm: inhale deeply, exhale fully. That pushes fresh air down the tube and flushes used CO₂ out, preventing “stale” pockets. Breathe from the diaphragm rather than shallow in the chest to keep your heart rate low and stamina high. If water enters the snorkel, blast it out with a quick puff or dip the tip to let it drain. RESTUBE remains discreet at your waist; it only inflates when you pull the trigger or top it up with a few breaths.
