"3 years ago I started paddling with my golden retriever assistance dog. My dog was crazy about water and for me being on the water felt soothing. I have a rare congenital immune deficiency. Due to this sickness, I have been receiving donor plasma every week since 2016.
An important side effect of the plasma means that I regularly get hypoglycemia, this is a sudden drop in sugar that can cause you to lose consciousness. As a water sports enthusiast, this is quite dangerous because you can drown with reduced consciousness, you also feel very weak and it is sometimes difficult to quickly crawl back onto your board.
At the Belgian long distance championship this year I had a serious sugar fall that got me into trouble on the water. Fortunately, I had guidance on the side because otherwise this could have ended badly. With Restube I feel safe and I can confidently go out on the water again and compete in paddling competitions. This year, for example, I won the 2023 Belgian Championship Sprint and Technical race among the elite ladies and the ICF Belgian Coast Race championship. Restube ensures that I can push boundaries in a safe way. My motto "Safety first"."
