When the summer sun rises over the Greifswalder Bodden and the first swimmers start warming up on the beach of Lauterbach, it can only mean one thing: It’s time for Vilmschwimmen – a true highlight for water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers, and adventurous spirits from all over Germany. The approximately 2.5-kilometer route from the island of Vilm to the mainland is not only physically demanding, but also passes through a protected natural paradise that is usually off-limit.
Safety First – with RESTUBE
This year, the event is marked by a very special partnership: RESTUBE is the official safety partner of Vilmschwimmen. The goal: to offer all participants maximum freedom while ensuring the highest level of safety in open water. Even under the best weather conditions, open water swimming presents challenges – currents, exhaustion, or cramps can quickly become dangerous.
RESTUBE is a compact, reusable safety system that inflates a bright yellow buoy at the pull of a trigger – providing enough buoyancy to rest, reorient, or signal for help. It’s so lightweight and streamlined that it can be worn at the hip without interfering with swimming.
A Strong Commitment to Responsibility in Open Water
The partnership with RESTUBE goes far beyond sponsorship. For the organisers of Vilmschwimmen, it’s a statement of shared values and responsibility. Every participant will have the option to rent or purchase a RESTUBE at a discounted rate during registration – and many will discover for the first time how simple and effective such a device can be. At the same time, the cooperation raises awareness that freedom in the water must go hand in hand with self-responsibility.
An Event with Vision
Vilmschwimmen has always stood for more than just athletic ambition. It’s a tribute to nature, a call for mindfulness – and now, thanks to the partnership with RESTUBE, also a pioneering example of water safety. Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a recreational swimmer, you can now enter the water with greater peace of mind.
We look forward to a safe, nature-connected, and community-driven Vilmschwimmen 2025 – with RESTUBE by our side.
