"Yesterday a 7 year old boy got into serious trouble with his SUP in Capo Coda Cavallo, a bay on the east coast of Sardinia.
He tried in vain to reach an island off the coast against the current and wind. The family were standing on the beach shouting and waving when I noticed the situation while swimming. After weighing up the options and risks, I swam out and reached the exhausted child about 400 metres off the coast.
I was able to get the child on course and escort him safely to the beach. The parents had allowed the child to go on the 'tour' without knowing the local conditions.
Would I have swum out that far without my Restube? I'm not sure, probably not."
