On July 12, 2025, the outdoor pool in Altdorf near Nuremberg will become the venue for a very special event: the 12-Hour Inclusion Swim. Organized by the Deutschland Schwimmt Foundation, the event is held under the motto “Inclusion in Action” and invites people with and without disabilities to swim together for greater safety and participation in the water. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., participants will swim laps together.
The goal of the event is to cover as many meters as possible within 12 hours using any preferred swimming style. With every lap completed, participants support the project “Water Familiarization for Toddlers,” which aims to provide children from all backgrounds with access to the water and the opportunity to learn life-saving skills.
A special highlight will be the participation of Janis McDavid, one of Germany’s most well-known and committed thought leaders for inclusion and equality. Janis continually demonstrates how trust, courage, and training can bring people together. Thus, the 12-Hour Inclusion Swim in Altdorf is more than just a sporting event – it’s a powerful symbol of lived inclusion and safety in the water. Whether you're swimming solo, as a family, or in a team – everyone can contribute and be part of this special movement.
In addition to swimming, participants can look forward to a diverse supporting program:
- Interactive activities & aqua fitness for all age groups
- Safety & rescue tests for children and adults
- Live music & side events in the water and on the lawn
- Information booths about water familiarization & safety
- Food & beverage stations, open throughout the event
All swimmers who can swim at least 50 meters are welcome – whether as individuals, families, or groups. Swimmers with disabilities are required to bring a companion.
