Successful rescue from the Weißer See: first operation with RESTUBE

Late on Friday afternoon, 5 July 2025, the Berlin fire brigade was alerted to a dramatic rescue operation on the lake Weißer See: A man was suddenly no longer visible while swimming. Thanks to RESTUBE, the operation had a happy ending.

In the afternoon, a person was suddenly no longer visible while swimming. The fire brigade, rescue divers and a helicopter from the ADAC air rescue service were alerted. The team from the rescue helicopter ‘Christoph 31’ was prepared: They purposefully dropped our RESTUBE-AUTOMATIC over the casualty. The buoyancy aid deployed in a matter of seconds - visible, stable and immediately within reach. And indeed: the missing person was able to hold on to it until he was safely picked up by a lifeboat and brought to shore.

The successful deployment in Berlin emphasises the practical value of RESTUBE: as a proven, portable buoyancy aid, it can be flexibly integrated into the deployment concepts of the fire brigade, water rescue service and other rescue services

The accident occurred just two months after the test run in May. Read more about the emergency test in our blog post here.

During the exercise on the Wannsee, water rescue, ASB, fire brigade and ADAC air rescue trained handling with RESTUBE.
