Exceptional athlete with extreme projects
Josef Köberl is an Austrian extreme athlete who specializes in ice swimming. He is known for his exceptional performances in extremely cold water and has set several Guinness World Records. In addition to his sporting successes, he is committed to promoting ice swimming in Austria and internationally. He is the founder and president of the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) Austria and regularly organizes workshops and events to get people excited about ice swimming.

Guinness Record:
On August 10, 2019, he set the record for the “longest stay with full body contact in ice” with 2 hours, 8 minutes and 47 seconds.
On September 5, 2020, he beat his own record with 2 hours, 30 minutes and 57 seconds.
In 2014, he was the first Austrian to complete an “Ice Mile” - a distance of at least 1.609 km in water below 5°C.
By 2024, he had completed a total of eight “Ice Miles”, including one at an altitude of 3,216 meters in the Hintertux Glacier at -0.23°C water temperature.
