A picture-perfect Saturday evening: Glassy calm water, a rising full moon over Lake Chiemsee, and more than 300 swimmers gliding through the twilight in glowing lines – this was the scene at this year’s Full Moon Swim at the Schraml lakeside beach in Prien. And we at RESTUBE were right in the middle of it all – as the official safety partner. Every single participant wore a RESTUBE Safety Buoy equipped with lights, transforming the lake into a magical spectacle of floating illumination.
Safety Meets Atmosphere
When peak athletic performance meets deep emotional connection with nature, safety is non-negotiable. Especially in open water, at dusk or in complete darkness, every second – and every visible signal – matters.
This is exactly where RESTUBE comes in. Our inflatable Safety Buoys, which can be triggered with a pull in an emergency, provide not only buoyancy and orientation, but – with integrated lighting – also maximum visibility in the dark. At the Full Moon Swim, they became a visual highlight: a lake full of "floating fireflies," as many spectators described it. A truly unforgettable sight – and a powerful symbol for responsible water sports.
United for Safer Open Water Swimming
An event like the Full Moon Swim runs as smoothly and memorably as it did thanks to a network of dedicated partners. Our special thanks go to Markus Füller, coordinator of the arena Alpen Open Water Cup, and the entire organizing team. We also want to highlight the incredible effort of the DLRG rescue teams, led by Axel Seitz, who ensured complete course safety with 65 team members, 12 boats, and 20 SUPs – a level of commitment we fully support as safety partner.
The experienced referees led by Anke Kürpick also delivered outstanding work in the dark – providing structure, orientation, and calm in the dynamic flow of competition.
Two Groups, One Goal: A Safe, Impressive Event
Dividing swimmers into two starting groups based on their estimated finish time once again proved effective – a key part of a well-thought-out safety concept that we are proud to support. Faster swimmers started first, followed five minutes later by the second group – keeping the water traffic clear and the glowing Safety Buoys always visible.
More Than a Sport: A Lasting Experience
For all of us at RESTUBE, this evening was far more than just another event. It was a true example of how safety solutions can do more than protect – they can also connect and inspire. Whether during the ambitious 2 km race or the atmospheric 500-meter fun swim for beginners and young swimmers, the illuminated buoys served as companions, guides, and symbols of a caring and conscious water community.
Bright Moments All Around
With the Full Moon Swim, the arena Alpen Open Water Cup once again showed how innovative, emotional, and atmospheric open water swimming can be – when safety, passion, and organization go hand in hand. RESTUBE is proud to have been part of this special moment, and we’ll continue to work with heart, technology, and dedication to make open water swimming safer – so that everyone can enjoy their freedom in the water.
