Reaching New Heights: Lisa Buchner Becomes RESTUBE Brand Ambassador

Flight, freedom, and responsibility – that’s what Lisa Buchner stands for. As a certified wingsuit coach, professional skydiver, and water enthusiast, Lisa is the newest member of the RESTUBE ambassador team. Hitting speeds of up to 404 km/h in freefall and always keeping safety in mind – Lisa is a boundary-pusher between sky and sea.

In this interview, she shares her story of chasing childhood dreams, the importance of safety in extreme sports, and why RESTUBE has become an essential part of her lifestyle – both in the air and in the water.

Meet Lisa Buchner

Lisa is the first and only certified female wingsuit coach in Germany and Austria – a true pioneer in her field. Her journey began with a childhood dream of flying and took her from tandem jumps in Australia to competing at world championships in speed skydiving.

But Lisa is more than just adrenaline and adventure – she’s deeply committed to promoting safety, self-awareness, and a supportive community, both in the sky and on the ground.

Her connection to RESTUBE is built on a shared belief: that true freedom comes from knowing you're safe. Whether she's soaring over the Croatian coast or swimming in the open sea – Lisa chooses RESTUBE for that extra layer of confidence.

Interview with Lisa Buchner

RESTUBE: How did you get into wingsuit flying – what was your path into the sky?
Lisa: I’ve always dreamed of flying – it’s a childhood dream that never left me. When I was 10, I got a hot-air balloon ride for my birthday. It was cool, but not quite the flying I was after. At 14, I did a tandem paragliding flight – again: cool, but still not quite it.
Then I heard about skydiving. At 19, during a year-long stay in Australia, I did my first tandem skydive over the Great Barrier Reef. And I knew instantly – this is it.
I got my skydiving license at 23, and soon after discovered wingsuits at my local dropzone. Two years later, I did my first wingsuit jump – and fell in love! Since 2018, I’ve been a certified wingsuit coach – the first and only woman in Germany and Austria to hold that qualification.

RESTUBE: What goes through your mind as you stand on the edge before a jump?
Lisa: Nothing 😊 I’m completely focused, fully present, and excited. There’s no space for anything else.

RESTUBE: Wingsuit flying is breathtaking – but also dangerous. How do you approach risk and safety?
Lisa: I’m very aware of the risks involved. Wingsuiting increases those risks even more. That’s why I do everything I can to stay safe – I check my physical and mental condition, weather, equipment, surroundings, and I stay educated.
In our skydiving community, we don’t hide mistakes – we discuss them openly. Everyone wants to learn, and we all want this sport to be as safe as possible.

RESTUBE: Have you ever felt fear – and how did you recover from it?
Lisa: Definitely – there are always scary moments when something unexpected happens. In those moments, you just react – fix the situation, and then get back to your plan.
Since we’re sometimes flying at 300 km/h (my personal record is 404 km/h), everything happens fast. You have to stay sharp and look out for others in the air. After a critical situation, I breathe deeply, regain control, and analyze what happened to learn from it.

RESTUBE: What does safety mean to you – in sports and in daily life?
Lisa: Safety is extremely important to me. People might think skydivers are crazy adrenaline junkies, but that’s not true. We’re constantly checking on each other – even in the plane before a jump. We make sure everyone’s gear is in place, and if something feels off, we speak up.
This culture of looking out for each other is something I really value – and it applies to everyday life, too.

RESTUBE: How does RESTUBE fit into your life – even outside of flying?
Lisa: I first came across RESTUBE while looking for something to keep my mom safe after she moved to the coast in Spain. Since then, I’ve used both RESTUBE EXTREME and RESTUBE ACTIVE.
When I swim longer distances or need to be more visible in the water, it gives me peace of mind. And when I do jumps over water – like the Croatian islands near Mali Lošinj – I always bring my RESTUBE EXTREME. Sometimes, you don’t make it back to the designated landing zone – and having RESTUBE adds a vital safety buffer.

RESTUBE: What message would you give to young people with big dreams – maybe of flying?
Lisa: Just do it! So many things seem impossible – until you start. Every person who’s done great things started from zero. Big dreams are made up of many small, achievable steps. If you take those steps one by one, you’ll find yourself on the path to something amazing.

RESTUBE: What’s next for you – in sports, in life, and with RESTUBE?
Lisa: After competing at the World Championship in speed skydiving in the U.S. last year, I want to keep taking part in international competitions – including a wingsuit event, the Austrian and European championships, and possibly another world championship.
But beyond that, I just want to have fun in the sky with friends, share my passion with others, and combine skydiving with travel. Jumping over water is always a highlight!
And I have a personal dream too: I want to swim with humpback whales someday. And yes – RESTUBE will definitely come along for that adventure!
