A World Record and a Powerful Message for Water Safety
On October 2, 2025, extreme swimmer Nathalie Pohl and her Scottish teammate Andy Donaldson made history: together, they completed a nonstop relay swim around the island of Ibiza, covering more than 104 kilometers in open water.
After nearly 31 hours, they returned to their starting point—exhausted but radiant—setting a new world record.
But their achievement was about more than athletic excellence: the project also raised over €150,000 for children’s charities.
Battling Waves, Currents, and Fatigue
The challenge began at sunrise in Marina Ibiza. From there, Nathalie and Andy took turns swimming in two-hour intervals—throughout the day and night, facing strong currents, rough waves, and total darkness.
“From the third quarter of the swim onwards, conditions became extremely tough. The high waves, the currents, and even seasickness hit me hard. In the end, it was sheer willpower that carried us to the finish,” Nathalie recalls.
It was a test of endurance, resilience, and teamwork—and both athletes proved what’s possible when preparation meets determination.

Voices from the Water
Nathalie Pohl:
“I’m over the moon. Not only did we achieve a world record, but I’m incredibly proud of the teamwork with Andy.”
Andy Donaldson:
“What started as a simple idea turned into something much bigger. Holding a world record together and raising such an incredible amount for charity makes us both very happy.”
Safety as the Foundation for Performance
For Nathalie, safety in open water is non-negotiable—whether in extreme swimming or recreational sports. As a RESTUBE ambassador and investor, she’s deeply committed to promoting water safety worldwide.
Her record-setting swim around Ibiza highlights one essential truth: peak performance and safety go hand in hand. Professional planning, skilled support teams, and the right safety tools make the impossible possible.
